Happy Monday!
This #MondayinWonderland is pretty silly and rampant with bad puns, I know, but it means a lot to me. I am an unrelenting people pleaser. I’m always worried about meeting other people's expectations or fearful of disappointing them. I let what I perceive as the thoughts of others control me at times. Is that maybe you too?
Well, then join me in trying to fight that a little.
Because you are never going to please everyone. People are inevitably going to dislike you no matter how much you try. There’s only so much you can do in a day and you can’t make everyone happy. Repeatedly, people who love me have had to sit me down and tell me those truths, and as hard as they are for me to process, they’re also incredibly freeing.
It’s your mixtape, record, performance, or whatever silly (and apparently musical) metaphor you want to use. It’s YOUR life. And therefore who you want to be and where you want to go should rely on no other expectations than the ones who set for yourself.
As for me, I’m the frickin’ DJ. And I say it’s dance party time.
